Change is in the air

yeah, I've been thinkin' again

Before I forget, go read Stephan Green's (of VodkaPundit fame) essay from a year ago. It's very good, as per his usual.
The job search continues; a few nibbles here and there, nothing solid yet. But I gots a feeling about next week.....
We celebrated a milestone this week: 2000 hits to the blog since my blog-partner-in-exile added the hit counter. To you fine people who are visiting SupplySidePolitics regularly, Thank You Very Much (you can say "You're welcome" in the comments)
You should thank Blogger for losing my post the other night. I was in full Bicth & Moan mode and pissed all over a lot of people who did not (really) deserve it. Now that I've got that out of my system, I can start about making the improvements that are much needed.
And the changes are a'comin'

It's been a week?

where does the time go?

The job search continues. Irons in the fire, and all that crap. Big interview tomorrow afternoon; as well as a few "call-backs" on tap for Monday. yada yada yada

Blogging is going to be light for the near future. Gotta get a job, gotta do a lot of other things that will occupy the "blogging hours". It just dawned on me that I have a blog partner; maybe he'll pick up the slack.
Go read Smoke on the Water. Jim is chronicalling his "Rita" ordeal, it's good blogging.
More later, when I can shake a few minutes loose.

Sunday Night Wrap Up

like I have time for this

I'm not sure if I should be consoled or depressed by this item found via Right Wing News.

Steyn is brilliant, as per his usual.

There's more out there, but that's all I've got for tonight.

Update

I'm shocked, but not surprised. Or is it surprised, but not shocked? I'm confused

Whoa, Dude! Like I just found out that Supply Side Politics is a "Flippery Fish" in the TTLB Blogosphere Ecosystem. That's like 7/17ths up the ladder. Granted, in the middle of the 7/17ths, but still.....Dude!

Tuesday Night Blues

just killin' time until they announce the lottery numbers

I need to get this off my chest.....Joe Biden can kiss my ass. Kennedy, Landrieu, Clinton, Feinstein, Schumer, Boxer; listen up: the line starts after Biden.

George Will puts it on a tee and whacks it good. Must read stuff. H/T to Laura and Rush, who were both pimping the column.
Tim over at Four Right Wing Wackos links out to an interesting piece he found via InstaPundit. Yeah, what he said (I think)
Did I mention that Joe Biden can kiss my ass? I did? OK, carry on.
And Jim on the Sloop New Dawn (I am so glad he's posting again, he can stuff 10 pounds of common sense into a 5 pound bag) is following up on the civil rights violations in New Orleans. Jebeezus, the fact that such things are happening in Our Country is appalling. Further proof that some people do not value the Bill of Rights like you or I. Long time readers will remember that it is my belief that the Bill of Rights was laid out in order of importance.
Oh, Joe Biden? never mind, you know

11 September 2005

insert your own damn subtitle here

Of course, given my current situation, I'm in a "nuke'm all 'till they glow" mood. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I had been making notes on my laptop for the past couple of months on the whole 11 September / GWoT / Pink vs. Grey thingy; alas, all was lost when I was made redundant and the laptop was not included in the consolation prizes offered to me upon my forced exit.

Wankers. But I digress.....

Back during graduation season, some knob on NRP was going on about how the current crop of college graduates were worried that the ".....War on Terrorism was going to be a factor in their lives for some time to come....." Well, NO.SHIT.SHERLOCK. Get used to it.

I'm 42 years old. Short of catalysmic nukular strikes rendering what is now known as the "Middle East" into a glowing smoldering glass plate, this War on Terror will be with us for the rest of my life. My children will grow up with it, and when we finally win this thing, my children will rejoice as I did upon seeing the Berlin Wall fall over and finally die.

I'm just old enough to remember the Civil Defense drills in school. Don't look at the light! Get under you desk! Assume the position and kiss your ass goodbye! My fellow travellers will understand what the fall of the Berlin Wall meant for all of us.

But there will be no nukular strike; no bombing of Mecca. No wholesale laying waste to entire regions, entire peoples, entire idelogies. Although, at times, such actions certainly seem well justified. Could we do it? Sure. This whole GWoT could be over by half-time on Monday Night Football.

But why? Why not?

It is because of who we are as a people and a Nation. We (justifiedily) bombed the living shit out of Germany and Japan, then spent un-told trillions of dollars rebuilding those countries and defending them for 60+ years.

You may or may not rembember the tsunami that hit Indonesia last year. How much support / money did Our Country pour into that area, both publically and privately? Why? Because we, as a People Step.Up. We pay the freight and tip the driver. It's just who we are.

We don't bomb them back to the pre-Stone Age, not because we are physically incapable of doing so, because we could. Thrice. With plenty of munitions left over the do the same to whom-ever fucked with us next. And the ones after that. And the ones after that. And so on, ad infinitum. We do not do such things because of who We are.

It's the restraint that We show that is the true measure of our People.

My point? Your best guess will be appreciated in the Comments. I'll "one-up" you: my point is NOT that you shouldn't blog whilst drinking to excess. Because you should. Comment, I mean.

But you knew that.

And now, Something Completely Different

my apologies to Monty Python

It just figures, you write a long, heart-felt, emotionally draining, and gut-wrenching post and Blogspot craps out on you and you loose it all. That's just how my day was going one week ago.
Not that the past week has gone any better, mind you.
Trust me, the original post (lost by Blogger) was much better, but here goes anyway:
Last Friday, the boss asked me to "pop into his office for a minute". Not out of the ordinary, business as usual, happened every day. Turning the corner into his office, and seeing the boss and the girl from HR and the long faces and the request to close the door, I knew it was Not.Good.
"Times are tough" "Belt tightening" "Reduction in force" Yada yada yada, you know the song. Especially if you're in the Automotive industry, you know what I'm talking about.
So, I find myself un-employed. Just.Like.That.
(doG damn Blogger to hell; the post that they lost was actually much better. But I digress)
Being ridiculously optomistic, I'm sure that things will all work out. Fortunately, drinking to excess keeps the demons of doubt at bay during the long hours of the dark night.
So, if you have any leads, or know of anyone who has any leads, or know someone who's second cousin twice removed had some leads, please e-mail me at heywoodblogger at yahoo dot com.
Yes, blogging activities will be light until this storm is weathered. I have other priorities right now (duh!)
On a (more) personal note: NEO (and you know who you are): please re-send your e-mail from last Friday to me at heywoodblogger at yahoo dot com. You raised some interesting questions, and I owe you a response.
Courage (Resolve)

Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist has passed

May he rest in peace.

Our Nation has lost one of the tremendous conservative intellects of our time.
